Euphonic Tape Echo is modeled on a four-head tape echo complete with a preamp, analog chorus, real spring reverb, and a sound-on-sound mode. Each component is carefully modeled to capture the real unit’s charm.
The plugin goes further than modeling the hardware. Manually change the four tape heads to fit any rhythm you want. Turn the first tape head into the dry input for an authentic lo-fi tape sound. Pan each head individually and set its level to create dynamic repeats. Manipulate the wow, flutter, and drive to add character. Speed the motor up, slow it down, or stop it altogether.
Press the “expand” button to reveal Nudge. Based on a vintage tape echo with a wobbly chassis that would shift in pitch when nudged by hand, Nudge captures all the nuance of that motion, from the imprecision of hand-controlled movements to the stretching of the tape.
Move the tape heads around to create the perfect rhythm. Nudge the chassis. Drive the tape. Make it unstable. The plugin has features that simulate manipulating the hardware without needing multiple lanes of automation in your DAW.
Sections of this plugin are available as modules in the FX Console, where they can be wired to sections of any other effect. Some modules hold several selectable circuits — in those, the Tape Echo’s is one of the choices.
